“My favourite winter cocktail.”

Ingredients

  • 2 fluid oz Bourbon or Rye Whiskey
  • 1/4 fluid oz Agave Syrup
  • 2 Dashes of Angostura Bitters
  • 1 Maraschino Cherry
  • 1 Orange Peel Garnish
  • 6 Ice Cubes

Cooking Instructions

  1. Pour ¼ ounce blue agave syrup into the bottom of a mixing glass.
  2. Add 2 dashes of aromatic bitters.
  3. Add 1 ounce of bourbon and two ice cubes.
  4. Stir with a long-handled spoon 20 times in each direction.
  5. Add a second 1 ounce of bourbon and another two ice cubes.
  6. Stir with a long-handled spoon 20 times in each direction.
  7. Strain into a double old fashioned whiskey glass with a large (preferably 2-inch) ice cube.
  8. Using a paring knife, cut off a one-inch wide strip of orange rind, without carving too deeply into the white pith.
  9. Fold in half lengthwise over the drink to express the citrus oils and rub the garnish around the inside and outside of the top edge of the glass before dropping into the glass.
  10. Garnish with a cherry and serve.
